British Shorthair Colours in Australia A Simple Guide

British Shorthairs come in a beautiful range of solid colours. This simple guide covers the main colours you will see in Australia so you can learn what to expect and choose the look you love.

Solid Colours

• Black — deep and glossy with bright copper eyes
• Blue — an even silver-blue coat that so many people adore
• Chocolate — a rich warm brown, ranging from milk chocolate through to dark chocolate
• Lilac — a soft pinkish grey that is especially pretty in natural light
• Cinnamon — a warm reddish brown shade, similar to the spice
• Fawn — a pale beige with a soft warm tone
• Red — a vibrant warm orange, the classic ginger colouring
• Cream — a soft, pale cream

Torties

All of these colours except red and cream can also appear as tortoiseshell, where the base colour mixes with patches of red or cream. It is a really pretty, mingled colouring.

Some colours, like cinnamon and fawn, are less common in Australia, so you may need to wait a little longer for the right kitten.
